altThe new Kap Europa congress centre will open as planned in June. With the new venue, Messe Frankfurt is expanding its range of locations for congresses, conferences and events. In its role of professional host, Messe Frankfurt will set new standards and fulfil all requirements regarding contemporary congress and conference venues also with its new location.

Across four floors, Kap Europa offers space for up to 2,400 people at a time: two halls, one for 1,000 and one for 600 people as well as twelve further conference rooms for 80 to 300 people create the ideal conditions for a wide range of events whether congress, meeting, exhibition, gala or cultural event.

Sustainable building

Already from the start, the planning of the building also took an obligation to future generations into consideration. The focus is on an efficient use of resources and environment friendly materials which offer event organisers and guests a particularly appealing venue quality. The Kap Europa is the first congress building worldwide aiming for the gold certification of the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB). The building will fulfil a special role model function with view to an ecological and socially compatible construction method.

The Kap Europa distinguishes itself with a well thought out, sustainable concept: from an environmentally friendly and low-waste building site and energy efficient operation to the deconstruction concept. Building materials are environmentally friendly and low emission – certified wood has, for example, been used inside and in the roof beams. Water saving taps, energy optimised window and facade surfaces as well as a high number of LED lights in the lighting and an intelligent control concept are further highlights. One particularly notable feature is the 1,000 m² roof covered with greenery which improves the carbon footprint.

Over-size art in the Kap Europa

A further aspect of the concept is the use of fine art in the interior design. The competition “Art in Buildings” found the suitable artwork with the aid of a high profile jury. The work “Crossover” by Berlin artist Barbara Trautmann now adorns the centre’s aerial space next to the escalators with a height of 27 metres. It creates new impressions for the observer depending on the perspective. Through reflection, the light installation also continues inside and outside the building. The lights rays of the 101 neon tubes in and outside the congress centre are particularly captivating in the evening.

The Kap Europa venue

altThe building offers a total capacity for up to 2,400 people at a time. Fourteen function rooms are spread out across four levels and surrounded by 4,200 m² foyer space. In the lobby is a 17 metre long registration counter, cloakroom and bistro. A total of 7,700 m² event space is offered by the large Horizontal Hall for 1,000 people, the Meridian Hall for 600 people as well as 12 further meeting rooms The imposing room heights of up to eight metres give an additional sense of considerable space. The foyers are light and spacious thanks to large window fronts whilst magnificent views of Frankfurt’s skyline create a very special atmosphere.

City location

The Kap Europa is located in the heart of Frankfurt’s central Europa district – only 250 metres away from the City entrance to the Frankfurt exhibition grounds and directly next to the Skyline Plaza, a shopping centre with 170 shops. There is also a 9,000 m² fitness and wellness centre and a 11,500 m² rooftop garden and event catering. Three hundred indoor and 500 outdoor seats offer a fantastic view across Frankfurt. The Kap Europa is only a 10 minute walk from Frankfurt station and the underground and tram stops “Festhalle/Messe” are only 5 minutes way.

Destination Frankfurt

Frankfurt is Germany’s city of contrasts where tradition and modern unite. The place where German kaisers were once crowned has today developed into one of Europe’s most important financial centres. Situated in the heart of Europe, Frankfurt is also easily accessible from the rest of the world thanks to the international airport from which 108 airlines fly to 295 destinations. Eighty skyscrapers ascend from the city centre – a symbol of the economic dynamic here. However, it is not only the skyline but also the old town with its narrow alleys, half-timbered houses and cosy cider inns as well as the Museumsufer (Museum Embankment) which define the city’s image and appeal to visitors.

Messe Frankfurt GmbH – an exhibition company with its own grounds

As the world’s biggest exhibition company with its own grounds, Messe Frankfurt is represented in more than 150 countries. In 2013 Messe Frankfurt organised 114 exhibitions of which more than half were abroad. In Frankfurt the company has, as a professional host and partner, nine exhibition halls, ca. 355,000 m² exhibition space as well as representative locations. The Kap Europa is the latest addition to the portfolio and is located directly next to the Frankfurt exhibition grounds.
