Stand out Time

Do you like to stand out from the crowd? Are you more likely to be a trailblazer as opposed to a fashion follower? If so, think Mutewatch when you are looking to buy your next time teller. Long gone are the days when watches merely told you the time. They moved quickly onto being fashion accessories and statements – think Swatch watches and fashion brands such as Fendi and Chanel. Now technology plays a vital role in modern design and should be a deciding factor when choosing your next watch. Since 9th July, 2011, the world of watches momentarily stopped ticking – the Mutewatch was available for sale. Out with the old-timers, and in with the new.

Mutewatch, founded by Mai Li, Oscar Ritzén Praglowski and Gustav Hammargren, began as an entry for an ideation competition at the Stockholm School of Economics, and within 3 years had become a tangible fully-functioning product.

Mutewatch, founded by Oscar Ritzén Praglowski, Mai Li and Gustav Hammargren, began as an entry for an ideation competition at the Stockholm School of Economics, and within 3 years had become a tangible fully-functioning product. And wow, what a product it is. Mutewatch is now a company of seven and is likely to continue going from strength to strength. Where and how can you get your wrists on this must-have watch?

The company, with their HQ in Sweden, now have stores from Canada to China and Singapore to Switzerland that makes up a total of 21 countries worldwide. Not too bad for a product that started off as an idea for a business school competition! The watch of the moment is also available online for a very acceptable price tag of £199. It has a real Scandinavian design style, which is very simple, spotless and smart.

The Mutewatch looks less watch like, and much more like a wrist band or very fancy festival bracelet, a kind of hip accessory that trendy people wear. But listen up; this is much more than a stylish fashion knick-knack. Principally, the design… it has a futuristic look about it, with minimalism playing a pivotal part, and is most certainly a fashion forward timepiece. You have a choice of three colours; charcoal grey (a favourite of Karl Lagerfeld himself), poppy red or pure white, chosen specifically for classic panache. At first there is no time on view, but no more than a slight tap on the surface later or a mere flick of the wrist, and the time appears in a glowing light with an LED display. Oh how I love it already! What else, what else?

The watch uses a vibrating motor for alarms, allowing you to keep to deadlines, meetings, and wake up calls without disturbing those around you. A polite watch amongst everything else. This is ideal when in meetings or conferences as you are the only person alerted when the alarm goes off, allowing you to discreetly keep to deadlines. The Mutewatch is a quirky little gadget that brings a bit of pleasure when time keeping – brilliant! Also it is a watch for both men and women, it doesn’t discriminate on sex.

So the whole design and mechanism of the watch differs from anything that has come before. One last thing – you need to re-charge this watch as it runs on a rechargeable battery. In the days where mobile phones that need recharging overnight are two a penny, this device has a 4 – 5 day battery life, depending on how much you use it and what functions you use. While you are charging your phone, just charge up your watch too! It is surprising how quickly you get used to things.

Get your Mutewatch now…quickly, the clock is ticking…
